LMYRA races are scored by applying time correction factors to the elapsed time of each boat in a race. These time correction factors allow many different types of boats to compete against each other according to the performance potential of each of type. Handicaps are assigned according to the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet Rules (PHRF Rules). The rules handbook is linked below, along with a list of the “base” and “adjusted” ratings of the boats that have historically sailed with us here on Lake Murray. To participate in our racing action, use the link below to request a rating for your boat. Then register for a racing series by following the link to Regatta Network.
Most of the sailboats that race with us are unique in some way. Some widely popular boats are unique simply because they are the only one of their type racing here on Lake Murray. Other common boats are unique because they were modified by their past or present owners. And a few are unique because they are, well, unique – they were one-off builds. Some sailboats are not unique at all – they are one-design boats that conform to strict measurement rules for a racing class. Whatever type of boat you have, you need an LMYRA PHRF Rating to race with us. Use the form linked below to tell us about your boat so that we can assign it a rating. Please allow at least one week for your rating request to be processed.
